San Marcos boasts a number of attractions. At the heart of the city is the crystal clear San Marcos River, a longtime favorite for tubing and relaxation. Our newest attraction is the reconstructed dam at Rio Vista Park. Rio Vista Falls offers three drops perfect for ultimate tubing and kayaking experience.

The river's source is at the fresh water springs of Aquarena Center. Here you can ride glass bottom boats and discover the unique plant and animal species that live in the crystal clear San Marcos River. Aquarena features several historical sites within the park and a wetlands walkway, which is a great site for birding.

At Wonder World, one can explore an earthquake-formed cave and ride to the peak of the 110-foot Tejas Observation Tower. There you will experience the beauty of the Texas Hill Country like never before. You can also take a unique train ride through Mystery Mountain into the wildlife petting park.

For the racing enthusiast, Thunder Hill Raceway offers a variety of auto races throughout the year.

Other attractions include the Millie Seaton Collection of Dolls and Toys, the Calaboose Museum of African-American History, the Commemorative Air Force Exhibit, the Southwestern Writers Collection, and the home of the LBJ Museum of San Marcos.
