    Art on the Rock

    Art on the Rock is an open studio tour of eight creative spaces with two dozen artists in the Lime Kiln/Hillard area of San Marcos which has become the home to many artists and makers. Visit each studio to experience colorful and creative San Marcos! From pottery to stained glass, textiles to paintings you're sure to leave feeling like a member of the local art scene and possibly with a new piece of your own.

    Red Zipper Art Studio

    Owned by Teri Muse
    Teri Muse, of the Red Zipper Art Studio, is an artist whose work is infused with color and texture. Muse's pieces are often influenced by the sensual lines of calligraphy. Collage plays an important role in her rich encaustics.

    Rio Claro Studio

    Owned by Stevie Black and Adriana "Gigi" Mederos
    Multimedia artist couple, Gigi Mederos and Stevie Black, have been supportive of each other's individual styles and interests in a variety of media, while also creating collaborative design works at the Rio Claro Studio. Some of the artworks at the Rio Claro Studio include hand-painted silks, paintings, drawings, prints, textile arts, photography, jewelry and fair-trade gifts.
    GUEST ARTISTS are printmaker Jeff Dell, metalsmith Thomas Myers, fused glass artist Deb Gibson and young artist-in-residence Rowena Brown.

    Another artist couple of the Rock are the Arcidiaconos. Lively and delightful Jolea creates beautiful and intriguing ceramics that spark the imagination while Peter makes rugged, enigmatic, self-assertive wood sculptures.

    Eye of the Dog Art Center

    Beverly and Billy Ray of the Eye of the Dog are the art pioneers of the Rock, where they established their well-loved Art Center. They specialize in ceramics and are home to a number of resident artists. This local favorite offers classes, exhibits and a number of well-attended annual events.
    GUEST ARTISTS are ceramicists Madeline DeStefano and Ty Johnson.

    Holcombville Pottery

    Established in 2007, Holcombville Pottery is a busy studio specializing in hand-made, beautiful, functional and colorful pottery for the home. Cecy shares her knowledge and expertise through classes and demonstrations.

    Kathryn Welch of the River City Glassworks specializes in well-crafted, artistic, custom residential and commercial stained-glass pieces. She also repairs and restores stained glass and offers classes on all levels.

    The versatile ceramics of Bridget Hauser embrace a range from the functional to the sculptural - sometimes in the same piece! Hauser has a keen eye for detail and her pieces have exquisitely crafted renditions of natural forms.

    Directions: 

    Turn off Post Road at the Texaco station (1503 Post Rd, San Marcos, TX 78666). A map of the area will be available online HERE and at each of the eight studios. Signage will be placed along the road to help with wayfinding.
