Attractions

Celebrate the Seasons of San Marcos – all year round with a variety of attractions.

The San Marcos area offers lots of possibilities and we have the perfect plan for you.

Bringing the family? Need a weekend away with the girls? Want to recharge the flame? Or are you just looking for something different to do?   Check out a sampling of our Celebrate San Marcos Itineraries to find the perfect fit for your family or group. You can follow our path or mix and match and make up your own.

San Marcos has been a favorite destination for more than 12,000 years. Underwater archeologists have discovered Clovis Indian artifacts dating back to that time at what is now Aquarena Center, at the headwaters of the San Marcos River.

We celebrate our heritage in San Marcos and are proud to share it with you. The LBJ Museum , the Calaboose Museum of African-American History, and The Wittliff Collections of southwestern literature and photography on the Texas State campus are among our treasures.

Antique cars and military planes are the focus of two of our favorite collections on tap for you to explore at the Commemorative Air Force Exhibit and Dick’s Classic Garage Car Museum.

You won’t be able to resist our crystal-clear San Marcos River, and the Lions Club Tube Rental has a tube waiting for you! Ride a glass-bottom boat at Aquarena Center, and explore an earthquake-formed cave at Wonder World Park.

Birdwatcher? Skateboarder? Dog-lover?  Looking for a great playscape for the kids, or a romantic picnic along the river? Enjoy the natural beauty and recreational variety of our 1200+ acres of parkland.

This is just a sample of what we have to offer for your next trip. Whether this is your first visit or San Marcos is like a second home, we look forward to welcoming you.

Let’s celebrate the Seasons of San Marcos together!
