Jordan Is Featured Artist at June’s Art Unhitched

May 31, 2013

Art UnHitched will highlight Terry Marie Jordan as the featured artist for the June Art Market on Saturday, June 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The open-air art market is held the second Saturday each month at 312 E. Hopkins at CM Allen Parkway behind The Hitch: A Mobile Eatery in San Marcos. The market is free and open to the public. Come out and see Terry Marie Jordan’s beadwork as well as work from other talented local artists.

“I have really enjoyed seeing our arts community pull together,” Jordan said. “We have a lot of talent in our town and I know it will continue to grow.”

Jordan has been involved in art all of her life – exploring studio art courses first through college and later through the Austin Museum of Art. On impulse, she took a lampworking class, excited about the opportunity to work with fire and glass. Jordan kept at it and finally had the courage to start her own studio.

Using a 1,200-degree torch and rods of Italian glass, Jordan often uses the melting process to create new colors and designs. Such a process requires pure focus and has become “a form of meditation” for Jordan.

“Each of my handmade beads has its own personality and is one of a kind—just like the people who wear them!” Jordan said.

Jordan hopes to begin demonstrations at her booth which will allow her to do custom work by request. For the June market, she will debut a new line of “magic mushroom” beads as well as assorted skull and heart-shaped beads.
