San Marcos mayor honors local music pioneer Kent Finlay
Mayor Daniel Guerrero recently honored Kent Finlay, musician, songwriter and mentor to hundreds of Texas songwriters and performers with a special proclamation. Finlay has cultivated and inspired such great stars as George Strait, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Todd Snider, Charlie Sexton, Randy Rogers and Terri Hendrix. Finlay opened the doors of Cheatham Street Warehouse in June of 1974 as a music hall to nurture Texas music and continues to mentor Texas songwriters. His “Songwriters Circle” and “Song Swap” nights offer new talent a platform for their musical exploration and development.
