It’s that time of year. Finally. You know the weather’s-so-nice-I want-to-sit-on-a-deck-and-hear-live-music-and-sip-a-beer time of year. It’s always a favorite and this year there are more choices than usual.

FOR THE PURIST
Middleton Brewing is the best of both worlds. Their recent relocation to the edge of San Marcos has given them room to expand their offerings. While continuing to brew a variety of Belgian styled beers, Middleton has added in some American and English styles as well. And you should check out the ginormous rooftop deck and main level outdoor patio. Enjoy the breeze and sweeping hill country view while listening to tunes played by local musicians drifting in from the taproom.

The outdoor covered patio at Hays Co. Bar-B-Que has quite a few perks of it’s own. Namely brisket. And ribs. And sausage. Which makes for a pretty tasty setting for listening to some live music. It makes for a great place to take the family, too. There’s even a playground off to the side to keep the kiddos happy. Win-win if you ask me.

YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE
For those of you that have no choice but to hang around with non-beer drinkers, don’t worry, there are some sweet on-the-patio options for you too. The Railyard Bar & Grill has a full bar with a happy hour twist —every time a train passes and blows it’s horn, blue lights above the bar flash indicating happy hour prices for the next few minutes. Music is played indoors can easily be heard on the covered patio when the bay doors are open. And grown-up games such as ping-pong, washers and horseshoes are played in the yard making it a fun place to while away an afternoon.

Now, for a middle of the week patio and music fix (sans beer of course), the new Potbelly Sandwich Shop downtown hits the spot. They will begin featuring local musicians on Tuesdays and Thursdays during lunch. Sunshine, music and lunch. That should help get you to the weekend!
Get out there, kick back on the deck, listen to some live music and enjoy the weather folks! It will get colder before you know it.
