Warm, funny and as genuine as that bacon hat on Doug’s head. Let me introduce to you your new best friends, The JJ Garrett Band! Now, I say that with a smirk. The odds are if you are familiar with the San Marcos nightlife you have probably heard about this rocking duo. Or, at the very least, know someone who knows someone who shook Doug Garrett’s hand once. Since 2011 this pair has played every venue in this beautiful city at least once and have built quite the reputation as witty musicians who show up to get down. With a healthy mixture of cover-songs and originals there is a healthy variety for everyone to wet their beak to.
These guys have put together a pretty impressive resume'; Sharing the same festival bill as Asleep at The Wheel, Hal Ketchum, Mickey and The Motorcars, Matt Hilyer, The Cody Bryan Band and have opened for The Band of Heathen and The Matt Begley and Bitter Whiskey Band to name a few. The buzz has been growing around these two for quite sometime. So much so they were introduced to San Antonio as the featured artist on the SA Living morning show and the Main Stage at Shiner Fest.
With the success of the band a residency was born. The Green Parrott and the JJ Garrett Band have teamed up to put on a show for those music aficionados of San Marcos. The Green Parrott at 10pm is now the unofficial launching point for your night out in San Marcos, Texas. So incase you haven’t seen JJ or Doug’s bacon hat in person, catch'em while they're hot (and free)!
