National Beer Day in SMTX
Cheers – it’s National Beer Day! Here in San Marcos, the beer flows as cold and smooth as the river that flows through town. From large breweries, to brewpubs, we believe in handcrafted beer that tastes great. Below is a list of some of our many wonderful breweries, brewpubs and local watering holes.
A 10-barrel brewpub with 15 different styles of beer, Middleton Brewing is all about providing delicious ales with Texas Hill Country pride. Enjoy live music in their tasting room and front patio. Or maybe, a rooftop deck overlooking scenic rolling vistas of the Texas Hill Country is more your speed. Middleton Brewing is the perfect place to kick back with a cold beer on a sunny day.
Located in beautiful downtown San Marcos, the open brewhouse and full dining room is a very cool place to kick back and treat yourself. AquaBrew beer never sees temperature swings, daylight or oxygen until it’s poured in your glass – making it some of the freshest, and downright tasty, beer in the area. Enjoy their new rooftop deck that overlooks the beer garden where you can listen to live music and enjoy a beer flight.
Altmeyer & Lewis Brewing Company
San Marcos’ first production brewery is a great place to drink delicious beer and learn just how it’s made. You can also find your Zen with a fun afternoon of yoga and beer tasting with a Pints & Poses class! Altmeyer & Lewis Brewing Company is also a great place to grab some great food from a food truck on site and enjoy some excellent live music!
Sean Patrick’s is all about the Irish pub and Texas grub! Located in downtown San Marcos, the unique pub offers in-house brews such as Dancing In Purgatory, Cenful IPA and Berried…W/ Children. Grab yourself an order of Guinness Fish & Chips and a cold pint of Sean Patrick’s finest beer and enjoy the buzz of downtown San Marcos.
The Root Cellar Café is a beautiful and unique brewpub located downtown. Their exclusive micro brews are created in the cellar and change seasonally. The best way to taste all The Root Cellar Café has to offer is to order their flight with a taste of each! Take your beer tasting one step further with an order of the Beer Bread with Honey Butter. The bread is made from scratch using the same grains as the house brewed beer!
One look at the tap list for The Growling and you know you’re not in any old watering hole. The Texas craft beer bar is true to keeping only Texas made beer on tap. You can taste your way around Texas with brews from every corner of the state. You can take home some of your favorite local brews in one of their plastic growlers.
Zelicks is an open-air Texas icehouse that serves many Texas craft beers. In fact, every Friday they have a mystery keg from a regional brewery that’s available until it’s gone. ‘Martian Culture’ is an event that happens once a month at Zelicks with live music, live painting, fire dancers, body painters and more.
