Jam-Packed Weekend In San Marcos

April 12-15 is jam-packed with one unique SMTXperience after another! From the Maroon & Gold Football Game at Texas State to the two-day cultural celebration at Martian Arts Festival, you're going to have a hard time choosing which events to add to your schedule. 



Martian Arts Festival – April 13-14

Martian Arts Festival is a two-day family-friendly celebration of art in all forms. The festival will be taking place at High Road Rocky Ranch, a beautiful Central Texas retreat. With music, arts, cinema, silent-disco and more, it’s sure to be an out-of-this-world event! The festival is free for all children 12 and under. There will be local food trucks and vendors as well as options for camping.


Art Squared Art Market – April 14

Art Squared features all handmade, original artwork shown by the artists themselves from 9am-4pm. In addition to all the great art, there is live music, free yoga/tai-chi, free kid’s arts and crafts, featured non-profit organizations and a farmer’s market adjacent to the art market. 


Hill Country Pop Up Gallery III – April 14

Art, hors d’oeuvres and one of Central Texas’ most memorable theme parks? Sounds like an excellent evening at Wonder World Park’s Hill Country Pop Up Gallery! Local artists such as Thom Rogers, Darin Wood and Rene Perez will show recent works.



Maroon & Gold Spring Game – April 14

The Texas State Bobcats will showcase their spring training with the annual Maroon & Gold Game. The Maroon & Gold game kicks off the countdown until the Bobcats return full-time for the football season in the fall. The game will start at 3pm at Bobcat Stadium and is a free, family-friendly event.


Got Your Back 5K – April 15

The Got Your Back 5K is a wonderful timed race that courses around the beautiful Five Mile Dam Soccer Complex. This is the 5K’s 5th year in San Marcos and proceeds will benefit the Marrow Match organization.


Live On The Lawn – April 12

Kick off the weekend early with a performance by The Georges at Live on the Lawn, a free and family-friendly event that takes place in San Marcos Plaza Park.


Downtown Swing – April 12-15

Held in historic downtown San Marcos, Downtown Swing is a weekend full of live music and family fun. The live music performances will take place across multiple downtown venues and is a celebration of all things western swing!


South Square Live – April 14

AquaBrew and Buzz Mill have teamed up for a pub crawl styled evening of live music. AquaBrew’s lineup will appeal to music lovers looking for a laid-back evening, whereas Buzz Mill’s lineup is perfect for those who appreciate louder, hard rock genres.
