Football Season In San Marcos
Break out your maroon and gold – it’s football season in San Marcos! Bobcats of all ages will be heading to Bobcat Stadium for tailgating and the main event, Coach Spavital’s first season with Texas State. While you may be in town to cheer on your alma mater or join in on your kid’s college fun, there’s plenty to experience in San Marcos after, or before, the game.
We all know fall in Texas is still pretty warm, which means you can enjoy the San Marcos River well into football season. Going for a paddle, float, dip or snorkel is the cherry on top of a great weekend in San Marcos.
Hit The Trails
Early morning hikes in San Marcos can’t be beat. Head out to Spring Lake Natural Area to enjoy some of San Marcos’ stunning trails. And with Spring Lake Natural Area being so close to Bobcat Stadium, you can be back at the tailgate with plenty of time to catch the game.
More Football, But On Unicycles
Sundays in San Marcos are made for kicking back at the Activity Center parking lot, enjoying a cold can of whatever you’d like and watching some Unicycle Football. You might have figured out by now, but Unicycle Football is American-style football, but played on unicycles. Oh, and it starts with a joust… (Starting in September)
Enjoy A Cold One
San Marcos is home to six breweries and brew pubs, yes, you read that correctly – six. Four of which are located within walking distance in downtown San Marcos. Each brewery has its own distinct flavor, so you have to try them all!
