Sure, San Marcos is great on a hot summer day, but it's a wonderful place for outdoor adventures year-round! From kayaking and hiking to disc golf and more, here are a few reasons why you should plan an off-season SMTXperience.

1) Kayak the San Marcos River

The colder months of the year are superb for exploring the San Marcos River. The water maintains 72 degrees year-round, perfect for putting in a paddle. With the water too cold for swimmers or tubers, kayakers can have the river mostly to themselves. Enjoy a tranquil and relaxing trip or get your blood pumping with some runs down the falls - the water is waiting for you!

2) Hit The Trails

To take full advantage of the cooler temps, we recommend discovering natural San Marcos one trail at a time. From leisurely strolls to more challenging hikes, San Marcos has trails for outdoor adventurers of all fitness levels.

3) Mountain Bike Adventures

Are you up for mountain biking San Marcos' rocky and hilly terrain? Good! There are several options for riding off-road, with two of the more popular trails being Dante's Trail in the Purgatory Creek Natural Area and Ringtail Ridge. Riding through flowering meadows, oak groves and cactus should make for a beautiful ride.

4) Throw The Ol' Disc Around
With two 18-hole courses to play, BYOB and a friendly four-legged guide named Taco - it's always a good time at Flying Armadillo Disc Golf Club! Get the gang together for a fun group activity day or night with night golf being offered on the mini course when scheduled in advance.
