San Marcos Like a Local
Ah, it’s the first day of fall in San Marcos! Cooler weather is on its way, slowly but surely, and we plan on spending as much time as possible exploring natural San Marcos and getting our bodies moving. From hiking and leisurely strolls through parkland, to running or walking in local races, treat your body to a fun fall fitness SMTXperience.
Break out your maroon and gold – it’s football season in San Marcos! Bobcats of all ages will be heading to Bobcat Stadium for tailgating and the main event, Coach Spavital’s first season with Texas State. While you may be in town to cheer on your alma mater or join in on your kid’s college fun, there’s plenty to experience in San Marcos after, or before, the game.
The San Marcos Convention & Visitor Bureau took home four awards from Texas Association of Convention & Visitor Bureau’s 2019 conference in Denton, Texas. The team was awarded a first place People’s Choice Award for video, first place People’s Choice Award and Judges’ Choice Award for tourism promotion and second place People’s Choice Award for advertising.
It’s hot out there, y’all! When the Texas sun is out in full-force and the temperature is in the triple digits, it’s time to take refuge. Whether you prefer taking a dip in the river, journey underground or soak up all the air-conditioning you can, San Marcos has many ways to beat the heat.
You might think it’s odd to see mermaids in San Marcos, but the mermaid/aquamaid has quite the history around these parts. From being incorporated into local artworks to being celebrated in parades and fairs, San Marcos is a must-visit for anyone who loves the quirky and colorful. So mark your calendars for September 20-21 for a weekend full of mermaids, San Marcos style!
