Growing up, not so many hours away from San Marcos, allowed for my family to take full advantage of this beautiful area of Texas, many times over. If I had to name one favorite thing, although difficult to pinpoint, I would have to say the river of course, the rapids; the adrenaline rush when one would come to a swift area of the river, squeezing the buns together, and lifting the hiney while passing the over the big rocks, as not to get yourself scrapped up; until of course, we realized that you could obtain an intertube with a bottom (ahh!). We camped, cooked over a fire, had hammocks attatched to every tree possible in our campsite, swam, fished for small perch, swatted many mosquitos, and breathed some of the freshest air Texas has to offer! Wonderful memories! Unfortunately, I have not taken the time, no really had the opportunity to enjoy San Marcos in the last many years...perhaps now I could a few more adult adventures; such as shopping, sampling the culinary fares, or catching a rising star on a local stage.

While staying at the Embassy Suites in San Marcos this week for work, I also brought my family with me so they could enjoy all the wonderful attractions the area has to offer. During the trip, my six year old daughter lost her tooth and told me that we had to tell the hotel people so they would let the tooth fairy into our room. So my daughter and I went down to the front desk, where Samantha, was very helpful in taking down all our information and assured my daughter she would make sure that the tooth fairy got special permission to enter our room. Talk about pitching in and going the extra mile! Thanks a bunch
