In response to COVID-19, some San Marcos attractions are temporarily closed this includes all tubing outfitters. Green spaces and nature trails are open at this time.

Commemorative Air Force Exhibit

Housed in a 1943 vintage wooden hangar, the Central Texas Wing is home to airworthy historic military warbirds including a B-25 Mitchell Bomber (Yellow Rose), the only flying Bell P-39 fighter plane in the western hemisphere (Miss Connie), a newly restored C-45 (Lone Star Lady) and other extraordinary aircraft.

The Meadows Center Glass Bottom Boat Tours

Open daily 10am-5pm, Reservations are required. 
The Meadows Center Glass Bottom Boat Tours, formerly Aquarena Center, offers interpretive and self-guided tours, historic glass bottom boat rides, wetlands boardwalk, Texas River exhibits (currently closed to public), nature-friendly Gift Shop and much more.

Virtual Mermaid March

Vitural Mermaid March is a self guided tour that consists of ten seven-foot mermaid statues painted by regional artists installed around the city. This public art project by the San Marcos Arts Commission celebrates the art, culture and natural beauty of the city.

Middleton Brewing- A Texas Hill Country Brew Pub featuring a 13 unique beers brewed on site! 



Purgatory Creek Natural Area

The 570-acre Purgatory Creek Natural Area is within the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone. Portions of the natural area are generally referred to as Prospect Park, lower and upper Purgatory.

Roughhouse Brewing

Roughhouse Brewing is a small, family-owned and operated craft brewery located on five acres of the Pasternak family ranch. Tucked away off of Ranch Road 12, the brewery serves refreshing, farmhouse-style beer that complements the Texas landscape. Offering free private tours of the production space, including their oak foeders. (must reserve tours on-line)

SUP SMTX

Open reservations required
SUP SMTX offers year-round paddleboard rentals to anyone looking to experience the beautiful San Marcos River. Rentals include access to the private dock at Ivar's River Pub. 

San Marcos Art Center

The San Marcos Art Center is the product of a vision by the San Marcos Art League. This space is located in the heart of Downtown San Marcos. This purpose of this place is to encourage, foster, protmote and nuture the San Marcos arts community. Stop in and see what is going on at the center today. 

Sculpture Garden

An outdoor sculpture garden located on the grounds of the San Marcos Activity Center.

Spring Lake Natural Area

About 251 acres of undeveloped parkland that sits just above the headwaters of the San Marcos River.

Texas Canoes and Kayaks

Open by reservation only 
Texas Canoes and Kayaks is the premier outfitters for rentals and guides trips along the San Marcos River. 

Virtual Public Art Tour

Take a virtual tour of San Marcos' public art here. From mini murals hidden in plain sight to gigantic artworks that take up the whole side of a building.  

Virtual Walkers' Gallery

The Walkers' Gallery is a large, professionally curated gallery that lives in the hallways of the San Marcos Activity Center. Exhibits at the Walkers' Gallery are free and open to the public during regular Activity Center hours.

Wetlands Boardwalk

Now open 10:00am-5:00pm daily. 
The Wetlands Boardwalk allows visitors to walk through a self-guided trail that explains the effects of exotic and invasive species on the habitat, as well as, offering a close up view of the abundant plant and animal life that thrive here.

Wimberley Glassworks

Open now with limited capacity
Wimberley Glassworks is known worldwide for their beautiful hand blown glass art and lighting pieces. A visit to the gallery is unique, visitors can observe the beautiful craftsmanship of glassblowing and then shop the gallery.

Wonder World Park

Advanced reservations required
Visitors have enjoyed touring the Balcones Fault Line cave for more than 105 years at Wonder World Park, the first Texas commercial show cave. Today, the park has many other attractions for family fun and educational entertainment.
